Plant to Plate [2025]

Director/ Editor - Currently in production

Plant to Plate tells the story of Western Road Urban Garden (WRUG), a space run by Southall Community Alliance, through the perspective of the women who have attended weekly sessions here over the past year. Participants have witnessed and been part of the site's transformation from derelict land to a space for leisure, food growing and education and also the creation of a safe space for bonding, sharing and learning about grassroots and community oriented environmental activism.

Young Voices [2024]

Director/ Editor

'Young Voices' is a film produced as part of a programme which aims to promote and teach local history in schools in Southall. History and Art classes for primary and secondary school children focussed on the experiences of migrant communities in the 1960’s and 70’s, especially the discrimination that many encountered while establishing a new life here. History workshops were run by Southall Community Alliance and The Monitoring Group and I taught a series of art workshops. All art works were displayed at Villiers High School on 'Southall Resists Day', 23rd April 2024. A selection of artworks and the film were also shown at Pitzhanger Museum and Gallery, Ealing and are now currently on display at Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Stories of Southall [2023]

Director/ Editor

Shot during a Street Mela organised by Southall Community Alliance in June 2023, this film documents local people who attended the Mela reflecting on stories and memories of living in Southall, West London. A range of themes emerge including migration, labour, community, friendship, culture, the impact of racism and thoughts and reflections on recent changes in the town. As well as capturing oral histories, the Street Mela consisted of a range of activities for the public to engage with including a street theatre performance, art and craft making, Bhangra dance performances and live music played throughout the day by the UFO steel drum band.

How Southall Celebrates [2023]

Director/ Editor/ Workshop Facilitator

'How Southall Celebrates' [2023] was a year long project funded by People's Health Trust. I was able to work with a number of local residents who were taught skills in film and photography who then worked on documenting the celebration of every festival in the town for a year, including activities that took place during a series of Art workshops. This experimental film captures aspects of how Southall celebrates through the perspective of the participants who took part.
